We can all make a difference...
Every day, animal shelters struggle with small budgets, pet overpopulation and human indifference. Without the public's support, many shelters struggle to provide the best care possible for the never-ending stream of dogs, cats and other animals from the community. Whether it's a stray cat who needs to be spayed, a pet dog who has been separated from his family or a kitten who has been the victim of animal cruelty, animal shelters and animal control agencies are bursting at the seams with animals in need.
There are ways that YOU can help!

Volunteer
Join us in becoming part of the solution by donating your time and services to the animals in need. From unfolding newspapers that are used to line cages to walking and bathing dogs, from assisting shelter staff as needed to helping potential adopters find a new best friend, from helping at off-site adoption events to participating in community outreach events - the Humane Society of Northeast Texas is ALWAYS looking for volunteers to help! If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, contact the shelter TODAY to learn more about what you can do to help the animals.

Donate!
The shelter is constantly in need of food, litter, cleaning supplies, and more! Donations are greatly appreciated and go a LONG WAY toward helping the animals. All donations are tax-deductible. If you are interested in dropping off donations to the shelter, stop by during business hours or place your donated items in the donation drop box outside. If you would prefer to make a monetary donation so that the shelter can use the money as needed, or to help sponsor the adoption fees or help pay for medical care for a particular animal, you can donate online by clicking the DONATE button below.

Foster
There are many reasons that the shelter needs help from willing and able foster homes. Sometimes animals need a temporary home while they wait on transport after being adopted or while they wait for a rescue to pick them up. The shelter does not have room to hold animals for weeks at a time, so having foster homes available to help house these animals makes all the difference!
Also, sometimes there are special cases that enter the shelter that need to be in a home environment. Pets that are recovering from an injury or that require medical care, litters of puppies or kittens, or expecting mothers all need to be cared for by loving fosters that can give them the time and attention they need. If you are interested in becoming a foster for The Humane Society of Northeast Texas, please contact the shelter or go by and fill out a foster application. FOSTERING SAVES LIVES and is one of the most rewarding things to be a part of. |
SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR PETS!!
One of the greatest problems the shelter faces is the extraordinary amount of unwanted puppies and kittens that are surrendered each year. Sadly, a great number of these animals never find loving homes... Spaying and Neutering your pets is the NUMBER ONE method of helping to control pet overpopulation. Please do your part to help and get your pets spayed/neutered. There are low cost options available or you can talk to you vet about what is best for your pet.
